Princess Aiko

Princess Aiko is the daughter of Naruhito, the Emperor of Japan, and Masako, the Empress. Born on December 1, 2001, she is the first child of the couple and is a member of the Japanese imperial family. Princess Aiko holds the title of “Shinnō” (meaning “young princess”) in Japanese culture. As the only child of the Emperor and Empress, she is notable in a line of succession that traditionally prioritizes male heirs. Princess Aiko has received education in various subjects and has participated in public engagements representative of the imperial family. While not in direct line for the throne due to Japan’s succession laws that favor males, she remains an important figure within the contemporary Japanese monarchy. Princess Aiko’s presence symbolizes modernity within the imperial institution, as she represents future generations and their roles in society.
