Soccer

Soccer, known as football in most countries outside of North America, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net, using any part of the body except the arms and hands. Only the goalkeepers are allowed to handle the ball within their penalty area. The game is played on a rectangular field, typically grass or artificial turf, with a goal at each end.

Soccer is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). It is organized at various levels, including local amateur leagues, professional clubs, and international competitions, with events like the FIFA World Cup being the most prestigious tournament in the sport.

Soccer emphasizes skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and tactical awareness, making it a dynamic and strategic sport. It is one of the most popular and widely played sports in the world, fostering a strong global community and culture around it.
