Curling

Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area, which is divided into four concentric circles. The objective is to accumulate the highest score by placing a specified number of stones closer to the center of the target, known as the “house,” than the opponent’s stones. Each match consists of a series of “ends,” where each team takes turns delivering stones. Players can also influence the stone’s trajectory and speed by sweeping the ice in front of the stone, which reduces friction and alters the movement. Curling originated in Scotland during the 16th century and has since become popular worldwide, particularly in Canada and Northern Europe. It is often referred to as “the roaring game” due to the sound made by the stones sliding on the ice. Curling is played both recreationally and competitively, including at the Olympic level.
